There is a very small gap between the top of the highest Ikea Billy units and the ceiling. To make these shelves completely built in though, we need to create a false wall to cover that gap. But walls need to be affixed to something. Time for another box.
I was a little distracted today, as I kept checking my emails, going back and forth with the library ladder people and consulting with dad. Phase two will not be far off, and it seems that by talking through the options as we are still building, we may be able to work out a solution. The trouble is, that we need to know where the rail for the ladder will attach. The Ikea Billy bookshelves are 80cm wide and we’ve built a small gap in between each one. The rail which comes as part of the pack I’m currently looking at has the rail mounts fixed in place… every 50cm. So, the rail is solid with the brackets welded into place, but some will be trying to attach to an open shelf.
Despite all the thinking, pondering and planning, we still managed to complete the top box in preparation for the false wall tomorrow.
can’t wit to see what comes next!
Thanks Kate. I’ll try to make it witty. 🙂
